Washington man medevac'd from accident scene on Grangemont

Due to his injuries a Burbank, Wash., man was flown by Life Flight to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston from the scene of a single motorcycle accident on Grangemont Rd. Monday afternoon, according to Clearwater County Sheriff's Office.

CCSO, Clearwater County Ambulance Service and Orofino Fire Rescue 3 responded to the area of Cow Creek Rd. (17 miles out of Orofino) and Grangemont Rd. for the single motorcycle accident. The operator of the motorcycle, Roy L. Melton, Burbank, Wash., was traveling eastbound on Grangemont when he failed to negotiate a corner and was ejected from his motorcycle into the south ditch of Grangemont Rd. The motorcycle with trailer attached then continued on down the road for about 230 feet before coming to a stop on its side, according to CCSO.

Due to Melton's injuries Life Flight responded to the scene and transported him to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Lewiston, where he is in stable condition, CCSO said.

The vehicle was removed from the road and the accident is still under investigation, CCSO concluded.
