National Weather Service issues Winter Weather Advisory/Storm Watch

National Weather Service-Missoula has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the upper elevations of Clearwater County from Friday afternoon to 7 a.m. Saturday and a Winter Storm Watch from late Saturday night though Sunday afternoon.

For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. With 1 to 2 inches for elevations below 3,000 feet. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 10 inches are possible, with snowfall rates exceeding 0.50 inch per hour between 6 a.m. and noon Pacific Standard Time. Below 4,000 feet amounts 2 to 5 inches are expected. Winds could gust as high as 35 miles per hour.

Areas of particular concern are: Elk River, Idaho Highway 11 Pierce to Headquarters, Pierce, Dixie, Elk City, and U.S. Highway 12 Lowell to Lolo Pass.
