Cavendish Teakean Elementary students express thanks to veterans

Students at Cavendish Teakean Elementary School recently wrote letters of thanks to veterans.

The first set of them follow:

Dear Veterans,

Thank you for volunteering to defend our country, our freedom, and even our cultures. A veteran is someone who fights, puts their own lives at risk, for America, and everyone in it. A veteran is someone who has served/is serving in the navy, airforce, army, military, or the merchant marines. You are all amazing!

Today I learned that a Veteran is a person who serves in the military like the Marines, Army, Navy, Airforce, and the Coast Guard. My father, Scott Feldmann, was in the Coast Guard, the AirForce, and the Navy. Thank you, dad, and your fellow Military friends.

I learned that there are more military services. There are Navy, Marines, Army, Air force, and Coast Guard. You and your fellow veterans protected us from air, water, and land so we could be safe. My Grandpa Kieth was in the army and I was proud he got to serve in the military. He was amazing. Thank you for protecting us and our family.

Today I learned about the Veterans and how there are multiple military services such as the Coast Guard, Navy, Army, Air force, and Marines. You all saved us from land, water, air, and we enjoy our country, Thank you very much!. Did you know that both my mom and my dad were in the military? They were in the navy. Did you know that 60% of the people were under the age of 34?
