Man arrested in shots fired incident in Peck

On Jan. 29 at about or around 11:59 p.m., Nez Perce County Deputies responded to Big Canyon Road in Peck for a shots fired call.

While en-route, dispatch advised deputies that a male shot at a house then broke into it, then left moments later. The first units on scene were a Nez Perce County Deputy and a Nez Perce Tribal Officer. They quickly located and detained the male identified as Shawn C. Kleemeyer, according to NPCSO.

When other units arrived on scene they went to the house that was broken into and learned that the home owner was shoved to the ground, and had a pistol pointed at him. The male then said to the home owner "I'm in charge!" The male then pointed the gun at the front door and fired it. He then ran out of the front door and continued firing the gun, said NPCSO.

The male has been taken to the Nez Perce County Detention Center and has been booked for aggravated assault and burglary. This incident pending investigation and more charges may be filed. This press release will be updated at a later time once the investigation is completed, the news release said.

Anyone in the area that may have information or video footage is requested to contact the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office, (208) 799-3132.

Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Nez Perce Tribal Police for their assistance in this matter.
