NWS-Missoula upgrades forecast for Orofino/Grangeville region to Storm Warning Earlier today, Thursday, National Weather Service-Missoula upgraded their forecast to a Winter Storm Warning for the Orofino/Grangeville region until 7 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. That is followed by a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 a.m. Friday. For the Winter Storm Warning, snow and blowing snow is expected with accumulations of two to four inches. For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow is expected with additional accumulations of one to three inches. Of particular note are Greer Grade, Camas Prairie and Grangeville and vicinity, according to NWS-Missoula. Conditions on the being observed on the ground in Orofino are that several inches have already fallen and it continues to pile up. Travel will be impacted with gusty southerly winds to 35 miles per hour that will produce blowing snow which will significantly reduce visibility to near zero at times. Those who must travel, are advised to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in the vehicle in case of an emergency. Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. Northern Clearwater Mountains The Northern Clearwater Mountains remains under a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 a.m. Friday. Additional snow accumulations of four to six inches are forecast for Elk River, Pierce and Idaho Highway 11 from Pierce to Headquarters. Travel could be impacted.
