Update 1:30 a.m. Sunday: As of 1:30 am on 12/19/21, the Idaho County Sheriff's office has received multiple calls regarding slide-offs/traffic hazards and has assisted ITD in shutting down the U.S. Highway 95 from mile post 230 - milepost 267, (White Bird Grade to Ferdinand) making advisory stops to ensure everyone's safety. Road conditions are still very hazardous with blowing snow, low visibility, and slick roads. Please stay home if you can and use extreme caution if you need to travel. For the most up to date road information please dial 511. 7 p.m. Update from Idaho County Sheriff's Office: U.S. Highway 95 from mile post 241 to mile post 255, Grangeville to Cottonwood, is being shut down by the Idaho Department of Transportation until visibility and road conditions improve. NWS-Missoula issues Winter Storm Warnings, Winter Weather Advisories A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until noon Pacific Time Sunday followed by a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from noon Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday in the Grangeville/Orofino region. With the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulation of four to seven inches. For the Winter Weather Advisory, mixed precipitation is expected. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches and ice accumulations of light glaze are possible. Areas of particular note are Camas Prairie, Grangeville and vicinity and Greer Grade. Idaho County Sheriff's Office is reporting numerous vehicle slide-offs and accidents along U.S. Highway 95 and Idaho Highway 7. There will be areas where travel is very difficult and heavy wet snow could lead to power outages. For the latest road conditions call 511. Northern Clearwater Mountains A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect in the upper elevations of Clearwater County until 10 p.m. Saturday and the Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday. For the Winter Storm Warning, heavy snow is expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 18 inches are possible. For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Areas of particular note are Elk River, Idaho Highway 11 Pierce to Headquarters and Pierce. Those who must travel should keep an extra flashlight, food and water in their vehicle in case of emergency. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
