Wildland firefighters called to blaze off Grangemont

Wildland firefighters were called to an area off Grangemont between Whiskey and Deer Creeks to what was initially a two acre fire about 2 p.m., according to Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association.

C-PTPA crews, along with a helicopter from Hillcrest Aircraft were on scene earlier in the afternoon. Idaho Department of Lands also has two engines and a wildland fire investigator on scene. The helicopter was released about 6:15 p.m.

Wind accompanying the storm system moving in could increase the size and challenges in fighting the fire. The wildland fire is on Potlatch land and at this point, no structures are threatened.
