Type 2 Incident Management Team assumes command of Bedrock Fire The Rocky Mountain Type 2 Incident Management Blue Team officially assumed command of the Bedrock Fire effective 6 Sunday morning. Operations will continue with previously planned activities with full suppression tactics. The weather Sunday may cause an increase in fire activity along the northeast and eastern parts of the fire. Private property fire mitigation is always encouraged prior to a wildfire. While it is appreciated, all the willingness to assist with firefighting operations, it is asked that this be left to the personnel assigned to the fire. Please avoid the areas that have been closed due to fire activity for personal safety and those working the fire. On the northwest and north side of the fire, operations will continue to be in a patrol and monitor status with an emphasis on locating hotspots and conducting mop up as needed. The northeast and east sides of the fire have the greatest risk of fire activity and fire spread. There have been multiple burnout operations throughout the past two days in order to remove unburned fuel along the Bedrock Creek drainage to prevent fire spread. Additional priorities will be to continue to strengthen and secure fire lines along agricultural fields. The Bedrock Fire is near Lenore, on the north side of U.S. Highway 12 and the Clearwater River between Lewiston and Orofino (approximately 26 miles east of Lewiston and 16 miles west of Orofino. The wildfire is at 10,424 acres with 0 percent containment. It was reported about 1 p.m. Wednesday and the cause is under investigation. Resources on the fire are: 218 personnel, including: 6 crews 15 Engines, 5 Heavy equipment, 2 Type 1 helicopters, 1 Type 2 helicopter, 1 Type 3 helicopter ,1 Air Attack (aerial supervision). ![]() Janet Boyer shared this photo taken from their backyard looking north Friday night. Notice the Sunnyside Rural Fire District tender and portable tank on the right of the photo. Doug Boyer is a firefighter with Sunnyside and the tender is parked at their place because it is the oldest one the department has and they have run out of space at the station.
