Monday: A claim for a sawmill

According to Idaho Place Names Quartz Creek is in the southwest quadrant of Clearwater County at Headquarters. It flows six miles southeast into Orofino Creek just south of Jaype. It was named in the early days of Pierce, 26 April 1861 by William Moore and Company as part of a claim for a sawmill on the creek. It was named for the quartz in the area.
