Orofino Junior/Senior High School has confirmed case of COVID-19

According to an email sent Friday morning by Dr. Michael Garrett, Superintendent of Joint School District #171, Orofino Junior/Senior High School has a confirmed case of COVID-19.

Here is the content of the email:

"We have recently learned of a confirmed case of COVID-19 at OJSHS. Public Health is investigating close contacts at the school and close contacts will be asked to quarantine at home until Sept. 11, 2020. You will be contacted by Public Health if you have been in close contact. At this time, OJSHS is recommended to be closed to face to face learning with classes resuming on Monday Sept. 14, 2020. During the week of Sept. 7th instruction at OJSHS will take place online in accordance with our approved back to school plan. All scheduled activities will be cancelled through Sept. 11, 2020. Please be looking for information on Chromebook pickup schedules from OJSHS.

All other JSD171 buildings will continue operating with face to face instruction.

We would like to remind all staff and families to monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19, which could include:

  • Fever
  • Dry cough
  • Tiredness
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhea
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Headache
  • Loss of taste or smell
  • A rash on skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
