Pole barn on Canyon Creek Road consumed in early morning blaze

A pole barn/shop at 4110 Canyon Creek Rd. was consumed by an early morning blaze Monday, according to Twin Ridge Rural Fire District Chief Deryl Ketchum.

Contents of the shop including three to four boats, a camp trailer, household goods being stored in the barn while the owners built a home were also lost. Ketchum said flames scorched the side of the home that was being built, but they were able to save it.

According to Clearwater County Sheriff's Office the fire was reported at about 7:12 a.m. Monday and the cause is believed to be a space heater under a camper parked under the awning of the shop. The structure next to the shop was saved. James Brower, 75, Orofino, was transported to Clearwater Valley Hospital by Clearwater County Ambulance Service.

Twin Ridge was assisted by Orofino Fire Department. Ketchum said it was a very hot fire a time and took a lot of work.
