Join in the discovery! Monday: Open to the public 1960s Tuesday: Volunteers integral Bald Mountain Ski Area was established in 1959 for employees of Potlatch Corporation living in Headquarters. It became public in the 1960s and is leased by the Clearwater Ski Club. The ski area first had a cotton rope tow powered by a gasoline engine. It now has a 600-foot rope and a 3,200-foot T-Bar. Snow enthusiasts enjoy 140 acres of varied terrain. Elevation is 4,000 feet at the lodge and 4,800 at the top of Bald Mountain. There is also a day lodge with cafe and rental shop featuring skiing and snowboarding equipment. Free bus transportation is provided from Orofino which is 28 miles away.
