I thought for a long time on what is my favorite Christmas memory. Out of all the memories the one that has the most meaning to me was when the entire family celebrated my grandparent's 50th wedding anniversary. We were living in the Phoenix, Arizona area at the time. My mother and her older siblings wanted to have a surprise party for their parents to show them how much they were loved and cherished. My grandparents were married in Salt Lake City just several days before Christmas. The day's evening started off with all of us loading up the car to head to a fancy restaurant to meet up with the rest of the family. Imagine their five children with their spouses and grandchildren, and great grandchildren. That restaurant was not ready for such a large gathering of 35 individuals. My Aunt Corrie, which is the oldest out of the five, with her husband David picked up my grandparents and brought them to the restaurant. With every one present, my mother and her siblings presented my grandparents the deed to a house for them to spend their retirement in peace. After the feast we all drove over to my Aunt Lottie's home to exchange gifts and enjoy each other's company. I will never forget my Grandmas tears catching into her cheeks because she was smiling so big! Michael Lloyd Reprinted from our archives
