Car destroyed by fire

A Pontiac Trans Am was destroyed by an engine compartment fire Sunday afternoon at U.S. Highway 12 and 130th St.

Doug Frank and his son, Brian, were headed to Kings Department Store when they saw flames coming out the hood scoop. They were able to get the car stopped at the intersection and get out safely. The car is a project they had been working on.

Orofino fire fighters work to get the hood off the Trans Am so they can make sure the fire is out.

Water is sprayed into the engine compartment to make sure the fire is completely out. Fire fighters also checked the trunk to make sure flames would not reignite.
