Lolo fires pick up with Thursday's winds

The Lolo Fires picked up from the winds Thursday and that caused some changes in evacuation levels, according to a Clearwater County news release.

The evacuation level changes and road closures Friday are the following:

  • Three Mile Rd. is closed at the intersection with State Highway 11 to the intersection of Three Mile Rd. with Lolo Creek Rd.
  • Lolo Creek Rd. and Hidden Valley Lane are on Level 3 evacuation and remain closed.
  • Level 3 evacuations have been lifted on Lombard Rd. Lombard Rd. is now a Level 2. State Highway 11 from milepost 13-14 is now at a Level 2.
  • SH 11 is open.

The Municipal Fire held under the increased winds Thursday. The evacuation level remains at Level 2 within the fire area. The roadblocks will be lifted at 10 a.m. Friday in the Upper Fords Creek area.

The biggest concern of the fire teams is the change in weather. The prediction is for a cold front and increased winds. The old junior high is open in Orofino as a relief center. The Salvation Army is operating the relief center.

The Timberline School is open as an evacuation relief center. Those who evacuate, are asked to please call 208-476-4064 to let the Emergency Operations Center know where they will be.
