NWS issues Wind Advisory for Camas Prairie area

National Weather Service -Missoula has issued a Wind Advisory from 1 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.

Strong gusty winds are expected to develop this afternoon through Sunday night and could affect high profile vehicles.

Winds will be south to southwest 15-25 miles per hour with gusts up to 45 mph for the Camas Prairie, Grangeville and vicinity, White Bird Grade and U.S. Highway 95 from Slate Creek to Riggins.

Be sure to secure any loose outdoor items. Driving may also be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. Higher elevations will see even stronger winds, so hunters and others recreating in the mountains should prepare for these gusty conditions.

A cool moist weather system will bring accumulating snowfall to elevations above 4,000 feet and higher for central Idaho, west central Montana, and northwest Montana, Sunday through Sunday night. Snow will impact mountain pass roadways, but amounts are expected to be light (.5 inch to 2 inches). Higher elevations may receive up to 4 inches of snow. Backcountry users and hunters should expect cold, blustery, and snowy conditions. Rain is expected for elevations below 4,000 feet across the entire Northern Rockies region. Sunday will be a damp raw day in the valleys with gusty winds especially along the cold front.
