Wildfire burning in the Central Grade area closing lanes of US 95 near casino

Residents and motorists in the area of U.S. Highway 95 near mile post 306 need to be alert to visibility and safety issues due to a wildfire that is burning, according to Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office and Nez Perce County Fire.

Residents in the Central Grade area, north of Hatwai Bypass and northeast and northwest of the Clearwater River Casino area, including Samson Rd. and Coyote Grade are warned of the fire.

This is an active fire creating smoke visibility problems on all area roadways including US 95 north and south bound lanes. At this time Idaho Transportation Department has shut down the northbound lane of US 95 at mile post 306. The agencies are asking everyone to use extreme caution and lower their traveling speeds. Due to emergency vehicles in the area, they are asking that those who can stay out of the area, please do so.
