A favorite Christmas memory I love is when my dad surprised me by coming home when I thought he wasn't.

On June 4, 2010 my mom married my step-dad. About a month later my dad got laid off. Hard times soon followed of job searching and saving every inch of money we had. My dad finally found a job in November. He needed to be trained and went to an academy for six weeks. I really missed my dad and was excited to share my first Christmas with him!

As my mom, my brother, Justin, and I were sitting on the couch in the living room admiring our decorated tree, we heard her phone ring. We answered the phone and found out that it was my dad! But he didn't have good news. He said that the academy had scheduled him to work and that he wouldn't be able to come home for Christmas. I was so sad after I heard that, I didn't really care about Christmas anymore. (Yes, I was a little bit on the dramatic side then.)

As Christmas got closer I kept asking my dad if he could just come home. His answer was always the same thing... "No". Grudgingly Christmas Eve was here. I was sitting on the couch watching T.V. when I heard the door open. My mom was in her room. while my brother was playing video games. I went to the door and what I found was amazing! My daddy came home to share Christmas Eve and Christmas with us!

And not only that but I got the bike I have always wanted too! That is my favorite Christmas memory because I got the best gift in the world.
