C-PTPA picks up 11 new fires from thunderstorm

Clearwater-Potlatch Timber Protective Association (C-PTPA) picked up 11 wildland fires all around their protection district from Tuesday's thunderstorm, according to Cameron Eck.

They have crews on all those that have been detected. Another helicopter has been brought in to help with water drops. Aerial reconnaissance is also going ot check for more fires.

One of the first fires reported was on Old Peck Grade where Sunnyside Rural Fire District was also involved in initial attack. Clearwater County Sheriff's Office has also assisted at some of the fires. Dozers were used on this and another fire at Angel Butte.

As of Wednesday morning, no structures are threatened and none of have been lost, Eck said.

Fire danger in the area is very high and a similar weather pattern with thunderstorms is being forecast today (Wednesday). Citizens and visitors need to be particularly careful with anything that could spark a fire.
