Four injured, one medevaced after two-vehicle accident

Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident just before noon Thursday at mile post 20 on State Highway 11 out of Weippe, according to Clearwater County Sheriff' (CCSO) Sgt. Mitch Jared.

As Scott Jensen, 30, was traveling north on the highway, he appeared to lose control of the 2000 Ford Expedition he was driving. The vehicle crossed the center line where it struck a 2003 Chrysler van being driven by Elizabeth Lopez, 39, Weippe. After striking the van, Jensen's pickup traveled back across his lane and rolled into the ditch line.

Lopez's van suffered extensive damage to the front of the vehicle.

Jensen had one passenger, a 15-year-old female. Lopez had one passenger, Donna Bonner, 64, Weippe. All four individuals were transported to medical facilities due to their injuries, three by Clearwater County Ambulance Service (CCAS) and one, Jensen, by MedStar helicopter. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time, according to Jared.

The accident is under investigation.

Besides CCSO and CCAS, Timberline Rescue assisted at the scene.
