Iraqi Army Imam delivers supplies to Tesin Orphanage

Editor's Note: The following press release was recently received from CPT Monte Hibbert, 116th BCT Public Affairs, serving in Iraq with the 116th Engineering Battalion of the Idaho National Guard. Some of the soldiers of that battalion are from the Orofino Armory.

FOB WARRIOR, Iraq - The Imam for the Iraqi Army took time out from his busy schedule to deliver supplies to the Tesin Orphanage on Oct. 3.

Iraqi Army Imam Kasraw, had the pleasure of delivering a variety of supplies to the children at Tesin Orphanage, in Kirkuk. Donated school supplies included erasers, pencils, notebook paper and coloring books, as well as some clothes for the children. Playground equipment for the children was built by Sgt. Fenton Doyle of HHC, TF 2-116 Armor.

The unit went shopping on the local economy for cleaning supplies, shampoo, bar soap, juices, frozen chickens, chicken nuggets, and hot dogs. Most of the donated supplies came from families and businesses in Idaho.

The IA Chaplain, Imam Kasraw, met with the TF 2-116 Chaplain, 1st Lt. Ross and was passed the torch for the welfare of the orphanage. The IA Imam and his superiors showed great interest and were excited about watching over the care of the children and involvement in support of the orphanage.

In order to safeguard the welfare of these children, Iraqi authorities continue to encourage community members to contact their local Joint Coordination Center with any information regarding terrorist or criminal activities.
